MkI - A Lotus Concept?

The reason I'm e-mailing you is I thought you might be interested in knowing that the MKI first generation Mr2 is actually an abandoned Lotus model that was then sold to Toyota and redesigned for metric and mass production by Lotus. I have the proof. The Mr2 real name is the Lotus X100.

When I learned this I called Group Lotus in England and spoke to a public relations fellow who said he would answer my question off the record and say yes but would deny anything out of respect for Toyota. The deal they made in 1984 was to never divoulge any info that this was an actual Lotus(British) design for fear no one would purchase such a vehical, British cars had major problems at the time.
